Back when I coached at Coast Range, there was a member who was probably in his mid 40s, police officer, 2 kids, big dude. Every time he came in, he would groan, “I’m too damn old for this shit.” We would both chuckle about it. Then, he would proceed to workout.
Can you relate?
I know some of you can, because I hear these exact words out of you.
Well let me throw some science on ya….
Your hormones do not experience any sort of drop until you hit your 50s.
“WHHHAAAT???? For real? Then, why the heck do I feel so blah?”
Stop and think. When was the last time you felt real good. Maybe even your best?
Most will say in their 20s and early 30s.
And what is going on in your 20s and early 30s. You are doing whatever the heck you want because you are only responsible for you.
Come your 30s and 40s and now you have a kid or multiple. There goes your “you” time. Your sleep has a huge decline both in quality and quantity. The financial demands also go up with a family to support. Work demands more. Nutrition? Well, who has time to put into that.
So no, it is not technically age that you are feeling. It is the demands of life you are feeling and by that I mean stress.
But I am here to tell you there are things you can do to feel good again.
Next time we talk about top tips to deal with the aches and pains.
